HANDWRITING WORKSHOPS

Introduction

The Northwood Speech and Language Therapy Practice have teamed up with Magic Link, a handwriting programme devised by a fellow Speech and Language Therapist.  Through our vast range of experience working with children within schools, we have developed a keen interest in handwriting and its link to the communication process in children.

The Magic Link Programme helps children from the age of 6yrs+ to develop neat and intelligible cursive handwriting in 30 easy steps. We are members of the National Handwriting Association, the

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and holds advanced DBS certificates.

How does the Programme work?

Our lessons are fun, interactive and supportive as we work directly through the programme.

The initial lesson is for 1hr and involves a baseline assessment and introduction to the programme.

3 workbooks are included along with a pen/pencil. Other stationary and pens can be purchased through the magic Link website, www.magiclinkhandwriting.com

During subsequent lessons which are for 40-45 mins, we then go directly through the Programme step by step.

Homework is set after each lesson and is vital as regular practice for 5-10 mins per day is a key factor in achieving our target of neat, legible, cursive handwriting. Parents are encouraged to support their child at home in order to achieve this target as soon as possible.

The programme usually takes 10-12 lessons to complete (or 5-6 double lessons for children over 7 yrs old).

Where and when are lessons held?

The lessons are held at our Northwood base and we have had children coming from:

  • Hillingdon
  • Harrow
  • Brent
  • Hertfordshire/Watford
  • Buckinghamshire

Handwriting lessons are held primarily on Sunday mornings with some availability of weekday slots after school. We also offer intensive holiday workshops during school holiday periods.

*Students can join at any time during the term*
